On 15.11.2024 a session on "Design Thinking in Entrepreneurship" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Computer Science and Business Systems. The session was handled by Dr.R.Prem Ananth, IIC Convenor, Assistant Professor of ECE , Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpettai , from 09.30 PM - 12.30 PM. 53 students and 1 faculty participated. This event was coordinated by Mrs.Freeda Jebamalar.S AP/CSBS. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.
The program started with the welcome address and introduced the guest speaker. The speaker started the speech by explaining about the innovation which is the backbone of progress, driving businesses toward growth and competitiveness. He said the design thinking approach plays a pivotal role in fostering innovation. It is a human-centered methodology consisting of six steps: empathize, understanding user needs; define, clarifying problems; ideate, generating creative solutions; prototype, creating tangible models; test, gathering feedback; and implement, deploying solutions. Design thinking’s iterative and collaborative nature ensures innovations are user-focused and impactful.
The systematic and creative innovation is essential for organizations to address market challenges and remain competitive. Coupled with design thinking, businesses can effectively identify opportunities, craft solutions, and deliver exceptional value to customers, ensuring long-term success. Product innovation emphasizes creating new or enhanced products to meet emerging customer needs, while process innovation improves operational efficiency through advancements like automation. Customer experience innovation prioritizes enhancing user interactions by offering personalized, seamless journeys, fostering loyalty. In all these areas the design thinking will play a major role which can support the innovator to find out the suitable solution to the problem. Students participated in the discussion with enthusiasm and gathered lot of information from the guest speaker.
